One of the professors I had while at the Wharton School of Business (Professor Eric Clemons) recently wrote an article where he argues that the Internet will destroy all forms of advertising.  Apparently this article has invoked some strong feelings and has drawn some sharp criticisms. I have presented a link to this article for you, my readers, to get your feedback. I am looking forward to reading your comments.

Why Advertising Is Failing On The Internet

As a person who is firm on choosing what I will or will not purchase, “advertising on the internet” would be on the failing side.
It is quite annoying when, without asking for it, ads popup at you. When I go on the internet to search for anything I am only going to buy what I am searching for. I wouldn’t mind ads that catered to my preferences, but most of the time they are not.

Now understand I speak as one in about a billion. I am sure there are many who surf the web who do not mind internet advertising.
I believe that traditional and internet advertising could have a good competitive run.
I feel there is an audenice for both. I don’t think that internet advertising will fail. It can survive. If and only if caters its methods to fit their customers.
With the ever increasing technology and brillant minds that are not even born yet, I believe they will do it.
